Ask the assessor

Jun 30, 2026 09:11PM ● By Kevin Rudden, Principal Assessor

Question:

"When are the forms to apply for a tax exemption available?"

Answer:

Applications to apply for an exemption from part of your Fiscal Year 2027 property taxes became available on July 1. If you received an exemption for Fiscal Year 2026 (which ended on June 30), the Assessors' Office mailed you a new application in late June.

Application forms are available at the Assessors' Office in Town Hall and can be downloaded from the Assessors' department page on the Town of Holliston website.

Under state law, taxpayers have until April 1, 2027 to submit their applications to the Assessors' Office. However, if a taxpayer wants to see their exemption included in the third and fourth quarter property tax bills that are mailed in late December, the application must be submitted to the Assessors' Office by November 1.

The deadline for applying for the town's Senior Means-Tested Exemption, which is based on the state's Senior Circuit Breaker income tax credit, is September 15.
