The Town is pleased to introduce the Senior/Veteran’s Tax Work-Off Program for Fiscal Year 2027, offering eligible homeowners a meaningful way to reduce their property tax bill while contributing to the community.

Under the program, senior and veteran participants may perform work in various Town departments in exchange for a property tax reduction of up to $1,500. For FY2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027), the Town aims to enroll up to 20 participants. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and approved as all requirements are met.

Participants may complete up to 100 hours of service during the fiscal year at a rate of $15 per hour. The Town will make every effort to match participants’ skills and experience with departmental needs, creating a mutually beneficial experience.

In accordance with Massachusetts law, the tax reduction earned through the program is not considered income for state tax purposes. However, participants should be aware that earnings are subject to federal taxes, FICA, and mandatory retirement withholdings. Participants (or approved proxies) are required to complete standard employment forms and must reapply annually to continue in the program.
