3rd Annual Community Sing, Friday, July 25 from 7-8 PM, picnic from 6 PM

Bring your love of music and community to the Society from 7:00-8:00 PM on Friday evening, July 25 (Rain or shine, since we will be singing in the barn)! Join friends and neighbors of all ages to sing a wide variety of favorite songs from many decades. We’re delighted to welcome back musician Roger Tincknell as our song-leader for the evening. Roger has been making music with children, families, and seniors in the U.S., Canada, and Europe for over 45 years. His strong, expressive vocal styles and masterful instrumental skills—on guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and percussion—bring a warmth and versatility to his music.

Roger Tincknell
You are invited to bring a picnic supper beginning at 6:00 PM. The Historical Society will be selling soft drinks and ice cream treats until 6:45. There will be seating in the barn, and you are welcome to bring lawn blankets or chairs, if you wish.
Community Sings are a great tradition in the United States and around the world. They’re not concerts—everyone shares in the music-making and no experience or special talent is required! We hope many of the tunes will be familiar (patriotic, summertime, country, kids, and folk are some of the types we have in mind), and we plan to have the lyrics available.
So, let’s raise our spirits and sweeten our sense of community by singing together! We are grateful that this program is funded in part by a grant from the Holliston Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Come enjoy making music on a summer evening. It is free and open to all!
44th Annual Harvest Fair, Sunday, September 21st from 10-4
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 21 and plan to attend; there will be something for everyone! The Holliston Historical Society’s Fair has become a fall tradition. We have lots of new crafters signed up as well as many who have exhibited with us in prior years. They will be selling crocheted items, knitwear, plushies, 3-tier dish sets, wood craft and signs, ceramics, soaps and creams, American Girl-type clothing, tote bags, doggie treats and beds, handmade sweaters, blankets and hats, alpaca products, and jewelry made with a variety of materials such as silver, beads, crystals, natural stones, polymer clay, and glass. We will have authors of romance, historical and suspense novels as well as a children’s author. Food vendors include fried dough, fudge, popcorn, maple syrup, candy, chocolate, teas, spices and steak—plus the lunch items sold by the Society. Save room for dessert—a slice of apple pie or warm apple crisp with ice cream, perhaps. Our bake table will feature apple pies made fresh that weekend as well as other goodies, all made by members.

After visiting all the crafters, check out our Silent Auction and Treasure Shop tables. The Open House in the Asa Whiting House from 11:30 to 2:30 will feature displays of Holliston’s history from the Society’s collections. Local musical group, Always in Season, will play from 12 to 3 PM. The Kids Korner will offer activities for children all day, all for free!
There is no admission fee to attend the Harvest Fair, so bring your family and friends and enjoy a fall tradition in Holliston on September 21 from 10-4.
Both events will be held at the Holliston Historical Society, 547 Washington Street. The Holliston Historical Society is a non-profit group whose mission is to preserve Holliston’s history and share it with our community. Programs are open to the public and are generally followed by a social hour and refreshments. We hope you will see something of interest and join us!
