At its meeting on Feb. 5, the Holliston Select Board held a public hearing and unanimously voted to increase the FY25 water rates by three percent.

Town Administrator Travis Ahern explained, “It’s a 3% increase on the four tiers. The only change to the flat fees is to go from $7.50 to [$8.00] for the water meter fee. The net impact to a user of 90 HCF [aka 9,000 CF] which is equivalent to 67,325 gallons per year…that’s set to be a household by the AWWA [American Water Works Association]…the net impact of that one change, the 50 cents increase on the meter fee, and 3% increase on the tiers, for a 90 HCF user is projected to be an increase of 2.18 percent.”

Select Board member Tina Hein specified that the 2.18% rate increase translates to an average increase of $20.27 per year per household.

The rates go into effect on July 1, 2024.
